Artist's Description
I took this photo a few years ago and Im sure the mountain has changed a lot since then. I have climbed Mt Saint Helens Washington 5 times over the past several years and every time I was amazed at the views and changes. Climbing the mountain takes a permit and about 10 to 12 hours total.
The small round gravel in the photo bottom is the edge of the crater, the large round mound the second cone. The first cone cannot be seen in this photo. Beyond and to the right is Spirit Lake and at the far distance is Mt Rainier.
About Don Siebel
I have been very fortunate to live in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest most of my life. I became interested in photography through a Community College Class, but I am pretty much self-taught. I have been a hiker and backpacker in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon and Washington for the last 30 years, although a little slower now. I love to take photos while on these ventures into the mountains. The Pacific Northwest coastline is another amazing place for photographing. Add all that to a wonderful family, my wifes beautiful flower garden plus some travel, and I have more opportunities than I can imagine to take photos.
